Welcome to Sherborne Golf Club! Founded in 1894 and designed by James Braid, Sherborne Golf Club offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for both members and visitors. Our mature 18-hole parkland course measures just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, playing to a par 72. With a variety of teeing options, golfers of all levels can enjoy a rewarding experience.
Located in Sherborne, Dorset, the clubhouse and course provide stunning vistas over the Blackmore Vale to the South and Glastonbury Tor to the North. The club takes pride in its active membership, with numerous golf and social events held throughout the year. We welcome societies and visitors, offering excellent golf, delicious home-cooked food, and a fine selection of beer and wine.
Sherborne Golf Club has a rich history. Originally founded as a 9-hole course in 1894, it was later expanded to 18 holes in 1936 when James Braid designed 10 new holes on the southern side of the lane. The old 9 holes were completely redesigned, creating a course with a varied character. During the war years, the club reverted to 9 holes, and it wasn't until 1964 that it was brought back to its full 18-hole glory.
To celebrate the reopening, an exhibition match was held featuring golf legends Peter Alliss, John Jacobs, Bernard Hunt, and Dai Rees.
At Sherborne Golf Club, we are fortunate to have strong relationships with various individuals and companies who support and sponsor the club. One of our partners is The Eastbury Hotel and Spa, a luxury Georgian Townhouse offering 5-star guest accommodation. Their Seasons 2AA Rosette Restaurant serves local and seasonal flavours, and their bijou garden spa provides a tranquil retreat. We also have a partnership with GP Weston J Day Engineering, a renowned provider of innovative engineering solutions.
They offer exclusive special offers and discounts to our members and their families, including the convenience of dropping off and picking up vehicles at the club.
