About
The Shaolin Wu Shu Academy Bristol, helmed by the masterful Neil Genge, is the go-to spot for serious martial artists and those looking to dip their toe into the world of Shaolin Gong Fu and more. Neil, a 31st generation disciple from the legendary Shaolin Temple, has been dishing out top-notch training for years, and his academy is brimming with Shaolin Taiji, Wing Chun, and even Shaolin Yoga.
With a whopping 44 years of martial arts under his belt, Neil’s not just any instructor. He’s the real deal. His students? They’ve performed jaw-dropping public displays, snagged trophies in competitions across Hong Kong, Europe, and the UK, and some have even popped up on telly as stunt doubles! Neil keeps it real with a friendly teaching style, a good laugh, and an environment that keeps everyone coming back for more.
Neil’s journey kicked off way back in ‘89 at the Shaolin Temple, learning from the best like Shi DeYang and Shi Yan Xian. His skills aren’t just limited to Shaolin Gong Fu; he’s got chops in everything from Shotokan Karate to Drunken Boxing. In ‘94, Master Lun Kai gave him the green light to teach Wing Chun, adding another feather to his cap.
Neil offers classes on Mondays, from 8:00 to 9:00 and 9:00 to 9:30, and it’s a pay-as-you-go deal at just £5 per hour. Fancy something different? Check out the Bristol Shaolin lion/dragon dance troupe – a great shout for anyone keen to dive into this exciting tradition.
So, if you’re serious about martial arts or just curious to get started, the Shaolin Wu Shu Academy Bristol is where you want to be – with Neil Genge ready to guide you every kick of the way.
