Are you the owner of Shaolin Mok Ka Kung Fu?

Rob Morgan wants to share some news with the sports community about Shaolin Mok Ka Kung Fu, a martial arts school in East Cowes. The school focuses on the ancient Chinese martial art known as Shaolin Mok Ka, one of the original family systems of Kung Fu. It’s particularly known for its powerful kicks, but practitioners learn a wide range of techniques and weapons, making them versatile in both attack and defence.
Unlike other styles that use set patterns, Shaolin Mok Ka uses 108 different techniques, giving practitioners endless ways to move and fight. This approach is based on a principle similar to a Chinese saying about how three basic tastes can create hundreds of flavours. In Shaolin Mok Ka, the combinations are limitless.
Shaolin Mok Ka also teaches practitioners to adapt their style based on the situation. Borrowing from Daoist philosophy, it trains them to seamlessly switch between defence and offence. However, it often leans towards offensive techniques, with the first attack usually coming from the Mok Ka practitioner.
The style was introduced to the UK back in 1975 by Sifu Charles Chan, a 7th Generation Master, in Coventry. He trained under Sifu Cheung Wing Fai in Hong Kong. The style then passed to Rob Morgan, an 8th Generation Master, who currently upholds it in the UK.
The history of Shaolin Mok Ka goes back to the Shaolin Monastery in Southern China. Legend has it that a midget named Mok Da Si developed the style, which was passed down through his family. Mok Ching Gill, a third-generation fighter, brought fame to the style by defeating over 500 boxers in the region. The style has stayed true to its roots over the generations.
Shaolin Mok Ka Kung Fu also has unique training equipment. They use two wooden dummies: Mook-Yan Chon for blocking and countering, and Darn-Gee, a 13-foot-tall bamboo post specific to the Mok-Ka style.
Rob Morgan and the team at Shaolin Mok Ka Kung Fu are dedicated to preserving this traditional martial art. They offer a welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities to learn and grow in this rich and ancient practice.
