Hey sports community,
Just a heads-up from Jane, your friendly neighbourhood organiser. Jane's got some exciting news for everyone in Wellington!
Over in Johnsonville, the Shaolin Kung Fu school has something for everyone, no matter your age or skill level. This place isn't just about learning some old moves; it's a chance for some serious fun and fitness.
At the Johnsonville NPC (Northern Preparation Centre), Jane's got classes sorted into three groups: PeeWee (4–6 years), Children (7–12 years), and Teen/Adult (13 years and up). The focus? Learning Shaolin Kung Fu, including strength training, discipline, and self-defence.
Classes are held at the Tairangi School hall. It’s a roomy spot with all the comforts to make training easy. And don’t worry about parking; there’s heaps of space. Plus, for those chilly Wellington days, the hall is heated, and when the sun is out, there are outdoor areas ready for action.
The instructors come with serious street cred, tracing their skills all the way back to the Shaolin temple in Northern China. We're talking 1500 years of tradition, folks! Their style is rooted in the teachings of Seh Koh San, a Southern Shaolin monk.
Students will get to grips with Shaolin Kung Fu basics – building up strength, flexibility, and coordination. And yes, self-defence skills are part of the package. It's all about that balance of physical and mental growth.
Interested? Just get in touch with Jane, and jump into one of the classes. Beginners are more than welcome, and the environment is all about being safe and supportive. Curious about the history or lineage? Head over to the “Our Art” section on the website for more info.
Whether it’s fitness, self-defence, or diving into a bit of ancient culture, Shaolin Kung Fu – Johnsonville’s got you covered. Jane and the team reckon it’s a great way to start your journey to a new you. Come join the fun!
Cheers,
Jane
