Konika Shankar wants to share some exciting news with the sports community about Shala Yoga Haven – Yoga Therapy Centre, right in the heart of Devizes. This centre aims to be a welcoming space for anyone needing support for their mental and physical well-being.
At Shala Yoga Haven, led by Konika, the focus is on blending mind and body practices to help clients heal and grow. Konika, an Integrative Psychotherapist (IYP in training), Yoga Therapist, and Special Yoga Practitioner, has been teaching therapeutic yoga since 2011. She offers both group and private sessions for individuals of all ages, including children, the marginalised, and the vulnerable.
Clients can expect sessions that integrate movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and stillness from practices like Yoga, Qigong, Somatic Body Work, and Gaga Movement, combined with psychotherapeutic enquiry. This holistic approach addresses the impact of stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma on mind and body.
Konika holds a Real Yoga Diploma in Yoga Therapy and is a registered Yoga Therapist with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). She also trains in Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy affiliated with The National Council of Integrative Psychotherapy (NCIP). Her sessions are available both at the studio in Wiltshire and online via Zoom.
Shala Yoga Haven caters to individuals of all ages, including children and those with additional needs. Whether in small groups or one-on-one, sessions can be tailored to private settings, schools, colleges, and centres. Konika also runs regular classes and workshops focusing on accessible movement and breathing practices to tackle anxiety, depression, and trauma.
In addition, Konika contributes to healthcare through The Yoga in Healthcare Alliance, which developed a 10-week social prescribing protocol in partnership with the NHS.
