Are you the owner of Senshin Dojo - Aikido in Glasgow?

Senshin Dojo – Aikido in Glasgow is a martial arts school located in the heart of Glasgow's West End. The dojo offers training in the Japanese martial art of Aikido, with a focus on self-protection, confidence-building, relaxation, and promoting a positive mind.
Classes are held at the Community Central Hall, a convenient and easily accessible location with good public transport links and plenty of side-road parking. The training venue, Grovepark Hall, boasts an 80 square metre matted surface specially designed for dojo members to train on.
The weekly schedule includes classes on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Wednesday classes consist of a 7-8pm Fundamentals class followed by an 8-9pm General Aikido class. Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm are dedicated to a General Aikido class open to all members.
Beginners and visiting Aikidoka are always welcome at Senshin Dojo. If you're unsure whether Aikido is right for you, take advantage of the “FREE CLASS OFFER” and drop by to watch a class or step onto the mat and give Aikido a try.
In addition to the regular classes, Senshin Dojo provides special classes for weapons training, internal strength development, and advanced practise. These additional classes offer dojo members the opportunity to deepen their understanding and skills in Aikido.
Senshin Dojo also organises regular seminars featuring some of the world's highest-level Aikido instructors. These seminars provide valuable learning experiences and the chance to connect with Aikido practitioners from different backgrounds.
The dojo follows the teaching and technical direction of Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, a highly respected instructor holding a 7th-degree black belt in Aikikai. Ikeda Shihan emphasises the importance of learning and understanding Aikido with the body, specifically the concept of maintaining one's centre while breaking someone else's balance.
Senshin Dojo also supports Ikeda Shihan's desire to bring together teachers and students from different Aikido organisations and backgrounds, fostering skill sharing, friendship building, and the future growth of Aikido.
The dojo's training philosophy centres around developing the principles of 'Aiki' to resolve conflicts, emphasising internal strength development as taught by John Burn Sensei, Ikeda Shihan's most senior UK student. These principles aim to cultivate a connected body, enhancing the martial efficacy of Aikido techniques.
At Senshin Dojo, the goal is to refine and polish the martial aspects of Aikido's techniques, making them effective without being destructive. Moreover, the dojo strives to bridge the principles demonstrated in the dojo with daily life, making Aikido a practical and applicable philosophy beyond the mat.
Affiliated with Aikido for Daily Life (ADL) and UK Aikido Shimbokukai nationally, Senshin Dojo is recognised as a member dojo of Aikido Shimbokukai internationally. It is affiliated with the Aikikai Foundation and Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The dojo is also approved by the British Aikido Board.
