Sanctuary On Peninsula Pilates, located in the heart of Mt Eliza village, is a boutique Pilates studio housed within the beautiful multidisciplinary Lotus clinic. The studio prides itself on its ability to tailor each session to the unique needs and goals of each client.
At Sanctuary on Peninsula Pilates, clients will never perform a set routine. Instead, expert teachers develop custom exercises and personalised sequences that accommodate and challenge each individual. Angles are adjusted, props are used, movements are dissected, modified, built upon, and perfected. This detailed and individualised approach ensures access to every muscle, resulting in a long, lean, and healthy body.
Unlike traditional exercise routines that focus on already dominant muscle groups, Sanctuary on Peninsula Pilates aims to correct imbalances and retrain the neuromuscular system, leading to body-changing results. Problem areas will improve, posture will be enhanced, pain will decrease, and clients will move with grace and ease.
The studio's approach is based on Melanie Smith's 20 years of Pilates, dance, and fitness experience, and has been perfected over 15 years of working with clients in the Pilates studio. This approach is effectively implemented through highly trained and expert instructors.
Each client's journey at Sanctuary on Peninsula Pilates begins with the careful matching of client to instructor. The instructors are well-informed and continuously educated through weekly workshops, ensuring their knowledge of Pilates, anatomy, and various mind-body movement practises is up-to-date.
When attending a class, clients are advised to wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows them to move freely. Pilates grip socks are also required for hygiene and safety, which can be purchased at the studio. Due to Covid restrictions, masks are currently required during classes.
Clients are encouraged to bring a completed PAQ (Pre Activity Questionnaire) to give to their teacher before class. This allows the instructor to have a better understanding of the client's specific needs and provide any necessary advice. It may also be required to provide a doctor's letter depending on the answers provided in the questionnaire.
Other items to bring include a drink bottle for hydration, a small towel, and a snack to have before the class (avoiding a full meal immediately before). Upon arrival, clients attending during Lotus operating hours can enter through the main door, while those attending outside operating hours can access the studio through the side gate and rear entrance to the building.
In order to maintain a peaceful environment and respect for neighbours, clients are asked to turn off their mobile devices and keep noise to a minimum when entering and leaving the building. Temperature checks with a contactless thermometer are conducted at the beginning of each session for the safety of all participants.
Sanctuary on Peninsula Pilates is dedicated to helping clients achieve their fitness and wellness goals in a supportive and individualised environment. With personalised attention from highly trained instructors and a commitment to empowering every client, it truly is a sanctuary for the mind, body, and spirit.
