At Saint Albans MFC, we believe that football is not just a game but a way of life. Our club is dedicated to providing high-quality coaching and training for players of all ages and abilities. Led by Sean Browne, a highly experienced and qualified coach, our aim is to nurture a love for the game while equipping players with the necessary skills to improve.
Sean's coaching journey started early, obtaining his coaching badges with the FA at the age of 19. He gained valuable experience working with grassroots football clubs before moving on to top-tier clubs such as Arsenal, Watford FC, and Tottenham Hotspur. Sean's time at Tottenham Hotspur allowed him to work with elite talent in their development centres and training ground, where he received in-house training from top coaches. He also had the opportunity to work with Tottenham Hotspur disability, which further enhanced his understanding and ability to work with children of all abilities.
In addition to his experiences in the UK, Sean has also travelled overseas and worked with the San Jose Earthquakes, an MLS team in the USA. Through his personal coaching sessions, Sean has seen his students gain confidence and progress to higher levels in their respective teams. Some have even gone on to represent England's youth team or sign with top League and EFL teams.
Sean's coaching philosophy revolves around the belief that the love for the game should always remain the driving force. He emphasises the importance of training hard but also enjoying the sessions, as that is the essence of why we all started playing football. His coaching style combines psychology, fitness, and tactical awareness, ensuring a holistic approach to player development.
For beginner and younger players, Sean's focus is on ball work and the mastery of basic skills. As players progress, the training becomes more advanced, always ensuring that bad habits are not formed and that players train like academy players. For more experienced players, the coaching is more functional and tailored to their specific needs, focusing on improving areas that require development.
One unique aspect of Sean Browne Football and the Saint Albans MFC is their commitment to giving back to the community. For every 20 hours of coaching delivered, Sean donates an hour of his time to coaching in disability football, demonstrating his dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
