Solent Boat Training, a sailing club in Southampton, is proud to offer the RYA Motor Cruising Helmsman Course. This course is perfect for beginners in motor cruising or those who want to get a taste of motor cruising before stepping up to larger boats. It's also great for friends, family, or crew members who want to assist the skipper of a motor yacht with various tasks.
During this course, participants will learn essential skills such as starting and stopping safely, low-speed maneuvering, turning in confined spaces, handling wind and tide, high-speed maneuvering and turns, planning and trimming, anchoring, securing to a buoy, and man-overboard procedures. They will also gain knowledge about key boat systems, crew responsibilities, boat safety, engine operation and maintenance, rules of the road, and seamanship.
The course fee for the RYA Motor Cruising Helmsman Course is £598.80. If you're interested in booking, you can easily do so by visiting Solent Boat Training's 'Live Online Booking Calendar'. We also offer private courses for those who prefer a more personalised experience. Our private course package includes the use of our Rodman 35 motor yacht, an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, fuel, and mooring fees for the entire 2-day course. The fixed fee for the private course is £1996.
Solent Boat Training is a recognised RYA Training Centre located in Southampton. We offer a wide range of RYA courses, including the RYA Motor Cruising Helmsman Course. In addition to our training courses, we also organise mile builders, experience days, and sailing cruises through our sister company, Solent Boat Care Ltd.
