Royal Tae Kwon Do is a leading martial arts school located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As the Northern Ontario division of the Royal Tae Kwon Do Federation, we are dedicated to providing high-quality self-defence training using strikes primarily by hand and foot. Our system incorporates ancient Eastern philosophy with modern techniques, including free-sparring, patterns, breaking, grappling, and escape techniques.
Classes at Royal Tae Kwon Do are conducted in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the George Leach Centre on 1520 Queen Street East. We have approximately 70 students in our school, with separate sessions available for teens/adults and children. Our classes are co-ed, and we maintain an excellent instructor-to-student ratio to ensure personalized attention and quality instruction.
The team at Royal Tae Kwon Do is led by three 6th degree black belt Masters: Don Buchan, Bob Burns, and Tom Kulmala, along with 4th degree black belt, Master Kelly Dawson. These instructors teach under the guidance of Dr. Karl Jirgens, an 8th degree Black Belt, who is under the leadership of Grand Master Son Myung Soo, 9th degree Black Belt and President of the Royal Tae Kwon Do Federation based in Toronto, Canada.
