Roselawn Lawn Bowling Club, located in Gage Park, Hamilton, has been a staple in the community since 1925. The club was formed by a group of enthusiastic bowlers who came together to create a space for the sport in the area. In the early days, meetings were held in the Gage Park greenhouse before the Parks Board laid down the foundation for the greens in 1924. The club officially started play in 1925, using a room in the tennis club building as their makeshift clubhouse.
In 1926, the Parks Board constructed a one-storey clubhouse on the grounds, which unfortunately burned down in 1930. Despite the setback, the club continued to thrive and even hosted notable visitors such as Lord Willingdon. The club saw its pinnacle moment during the British Empire Games in 1930 when bowlers from all over the Empire were welcomed to the club.
In 1931, the current clubhouse was erected, marking a new chapter for Roselawn Lawn Bowling Club. Now, as the club approaches its 98th year of operation in 2023, it continues to be a vibrant hub for lawn bowling enthusiasts in Hamilton.
The executive team at Roselawn includes President Cathy Wheat, Draw Master Rusty Ruggles, Treasurer Linda Kindree, and Membership Coordinator Wayne Kowalyshyn.
