The North Beach Surf Life Saving Club presents the Rookie Lifeguard Programme, a fantastic opportunity for 13-year-old junior surf members who are eager to dive into the world of lifeguarding. This exciting programme aims to equip these young members with the necessary skills and knowledge to become future Surf Lifeguards or Patrol Supports.
During the programme, our enthusiastic rookies will have the chance to work alongside our expert lifeguards as they conduct their patrols. They will gain valuable insights into the ins and outs of lifeguarding, getting a real taste of what it takes to keep our beaches safe. While they won't be involved in actual rescues for safety reasons, they will be able to observe and learn from our experienced team.
To wrap up the season with a splash, there's also the highly anticipated 'Rookie Challenge'. Hosted by the Surf Life Saving Southern Region, this challenge puts our rookies' newfound skills to the test. They will take part in thrilling scenario-based events, including IRB setup, CPR, beach run, tube rescue, first aid, beach setup, and even a missing person search. Our rookies will team up in groups of 3-4, ready to take on teams from other clubs in a friendly competition. It's an exciting way to showcase the skills they've acquired throughout the programme.
