Dear Sports Community,
Martin would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone to join Rollesby Broad Sailing Club (RBSC). Located in Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom, RBSC has proudly celebrated 50 years of sailing from 1972 to 2022 and continues to offer an inclusive and active sailing community.
At RBSC, there's something for everyone, whether you're an experienced sailor or just starting out. The club offers a variety of dinghy classes, including Moth, Enterprise, Laser, Mirror, Optimist, Phantom, Topper, Solo, and Wayfarer. Additionally, members have access to boats available for hire, perfect for those who don't own their own.
Sailing takes place on the tranquil Rollesby Broad, a serene spot that’s not connected by boat to the rest of the broads network. This ensures a peaceful and safe environment away from the hustle of the wider Broads and hire boat activity.
The spacious grassed area in front of the clubhouse is an ideal place to relax, socialise, and enjoy the activities on the water. It's perfect for soaking up the sun on those glorious British summer days. Members can also explore two interlocking broads or sail down to the Eels Foot Pub for a refreshing drink.
With no motorboats allowed, Rollesby Broad and Ormesby Little Broad are havens for wildlife, especially various bird species.
For those looking to store their boats, dinghy berths are available, conveniently located close to the water. The clubhouse provides comfortable facilities including a lounge area, galley, wet seating, and hot showers and changing rooms. Additional overflow changing rooms and a well-positioned Race Officers box offer further convenience and oversight during races.
Popular boat classes like Wayfarer, Enterprise, Laser, Moth, Solo, Topper, and Stratos are frequently sailed by members. The club maintains a fleet of Toppers, Optimists, Lasers, and a Wayfarer for hire, ensuring that anyone can join in, even without their own boat. Rescue boats are always on standby, and the club provides rescue boat courses throughout the year.
Handicap racing is a regular event, happening every Sunday year-round and on Wednesday evenings during the summer. The sailing season on Rollesby Broad runs from April 1st to October 31st, while Ormesby Little Broad (Eels Foot) is available from July 1st to October 31st. From November to March, sailing is limited to Sundays on Rollesby Broad.
Martin encourages everyone to become a member of RBSC and experience the joys of sailing in such a picturesque and peaceful setting. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a keen beginner, RBSC offers a welcoming community to enjoy the sport of sailing. Come join the fun! ⛵
Best wishes,
[Your Organising Committee]
