RN South Coast Archers is an archery club based in Fareham, New Zealand. With roots tracing back to 2001 as Solent Archers at HMS Collingwood, the club evolved over the years to its current name in 2010. In 2014, the club relocated to H. M.
S Sultan and has grown steadily since its inception. What started with just 4 adults and 9 juniors has now flourished into a thriving community with over 150 adult, junior, and disability archers.
The club takes pride in its achievements, with three of its archers already having represented the GB Team, and there is hope for more to follow in their footsteps. Powered by Squarespace, RN South Coast Archers is dedicated to fostering a love for archery and providing a supportive environment for all members.
One highlight of the club is its partnership with Cams Hill school, which has generously provided the equipment needed for the archery activities. This winter, the club is excited to announce that they will be shooting at Cams Hill School on Saturday evenings, adding to their shooting opportunities.
RN South Coast Archers offers beginner courses twice a year, typically in January and June. These five-week courses are designed to introduce newcomers to archery without the need to join the club or purchase equipment. All necessary equipment is provided, and the course costs 60. Participants, aged 6 and above (with parental supervision for those under 12), have the opportunity to learn the basics of archery and potentially join the club for further coaching and skill development.
Members of RN South Coast Archers enjoy a variety of shooting opportunities. During the summer months, shooting is held outdoors on the Polo Field, while winter shooting takes place in the Dolphin Hanger. Additionally, members can avail themselves of shooting sessions at Cams Hill School on Saturday evenings. Shooting times vary depending on the season, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, as well as Sunday mornings reserved for shooting activities.
Membership to the club is valid from July to July, and the annual cost for both adults and juniors is 120. Payment can be made through a monthly standing order of 10 or in full. Families with multiple members receive a 10% discount if paid from the same account. Additionally, members are required to pay applicable fees to Archery GB, Southern Counties, and Hampshire, usually due in September to commence in October.
RN South Coast Archers also organises tournaments throughout the year. One such event is the Hart Clout Imperial (Double), set to take place on Sunday, 13th March 2022 at H. S Sultan Polo Field in Gosport, Hampshire. The tournament features various rounds for different age groups and genders and promises a day of friendly competition.
Entry fee for the tournament is 8 per archer, payable by cheque or Basc. Entry forms can be emailed or posted to the designated address, with a closing date of March 10th, 2022.
Whether you're a seasoned archer or looking to start your archery journey, RN South Coast Archers welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities. With a strong community spirit, dedicated coaching, and a range of shooting opportunities, the club provides a supportive and enjoyable environment for archery enthusiasts.
