Rivas-JH Kim Taekwondo (Katong)

Founder of Taekwondo, where he received his 4th Dan Black Belt from the General himself. It was during this time that Grandmaster Kim met his wife, Joann, who was also a martial artist practising Judo. The couple eventually moved to Singapore in 1978 where they continued to spread their love for Taekwondo.

Rivas-JH Kim Taekwondo (Katong) is a martial arts school located in Singapore that offers a range of classes for students of all ages and skill levels. With a focus on the traditional values of Taekwondo, such as “Improvement of Mind and Body”, “Ethical Self-Conduct”, and “Unity Among Members (People)”, the school aims to instil discipline, respect, and confidence in its students.

The school is led by Grandmaster Jae Hun Kim, a highly experienced martial artist with a deep passion for Taekwondo. Born and raised in Korea, Grandmaster Kim's father was a military officer and diplomat who inspired him to pursue martial arts from a young age. With a background in various martial arts, including Hapkido and boxing, Grandmaster Kim moved to Canada in 1967 where he started his first Taekwondo club. He eventually moved to Boston and then to Singapore in 1978, where he has since dedicated his life to teaching and promoting Taekwondo.

In addition to Grandmaster Kim, the school is staffed by a team of dedicated and highly qualified instructors who are committed to helping each student reach their full potential. With multiple locations across Singapore, including Katong, Millenia Walk, Siglap, Tampines, River Valley, and Pasir Panjang, Rivas-JH Kim Taekwondo offers convenient access for students from all parts of the city.
