Moment to familiarise yourself with our rowing guides and safety video. Safety is our top priority, and we want all members to feel comfortable and confident on the water. Whether youre a seasoned rower or new to the sport, these resources provide valuable information on proper technique, safety protocols, and navigation tips.
At Richmond Bridge Boat Club, we pride ourselves on being the friendliest adult-only rowing club on the River Thames. Established in 2013, our club offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for rowers of all abilities. Our picturesque location on one of the most beautiful stretches of the river makes every rowing session a memorable experience.
We row all year round, thanks to our own fleet of traditional Thames-style boats. These boats are meticulously crafted using the centuries-old wooden clinker construction technique, ensuring a unique and authentic rowing experience. Whether you're rowing for pleasure, exercise, or competition, our boats provide a safe and enjoyable way to connect with the water and nature.
If you're new to rowing, we invite you to book a free Taster row with us. Our experienced members will guide you through the basics, helping you feel comfortable and confident on the water. Even if you have previous rowing experience, we still encourage you to participate in a Taster row to familiarise yourself with our club and safety protocols.
We understand that rowing is both a physical and social activity. That's why we prioritise inclusivity and sociability at our club. We believe in fostering a supportive community where members can forge lasting friendships, share their love for rowing, and enjoy social events throughout the year.
As we navigate the changing social distancing rules, we are continuously adapting our schedules to ensure everyone's safety. Please get in touch with us to learn more about our current rowing sessions and membership options. We have various Membership plans available to suit your needs, providing you with access to our club facilities and organised rowing events.
If you're interested in learning more about rowing, we offer Learn to Row sessions. These sessions, led by experienced instructors, provide a structured approach to acquire rowing skills and knowledge. Our Learn to Row sessions are closed for 2023, but we'll reopen in February 2024. To prepare for your Taster row or future rowing sessions, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity. It's best to avoid wearing jeans, as they can cause discomfort during rowing. Layering your clothing is advisable, as rowing can generate warmth. Flat shoes with a good grip, such as trainers or sailing shoes, are ideal for foot support.
If you're prone to blisters, consider wearing gloves, such as gel-cushioned cycling gloves. We also have a range of club kit available for purchase in our online shop.
Lastly, we value the safety of our members and their belongings. Lockers are provided in our clubhouse for secure storage of your valuables during rowing sessions.
If you're ready to take the next step and join our vibrant rowing community, please email our membership secretary at info@richmondbridgeboatclub. Com. We can't wait to welcome you to the Richmond Bridge Boat Club, where rowing is a passion and the river Thames is our playground.
