Renata Bittencourt Yoga is a London-based yoga instructor who is dedicated to promoting a more nuanced, present awareness of both the body and mind. Renata invites her students to engage in their own process of self-enquiry with curiosity, enjoyment, and enthusiasm. With a strong passion for teaching, Renata ensures that each lesson plan is thoughtfully crafted, providing new perspectives on poses that students may have been practising for years.
Renata is known for her exceptional communication skills, allowing her students to learn and grow in her classes. She takes the time to provide adjustments where necessary, making her students feel safe and supported. Many students appreciate her personalised modifications, which have allowed them to improve their practise at home. Renata's attention to detail and her ability to create a nurturing environment has earned her the respect and gratitude of her students.
Renata's yoga journey began in 2010 when she started practising as a way to stay flexible and maintain a healthy spine after being diagnosed with scoliosis. As she experienced the physical benefits of yoga, she also discovered the mental spaciousness and emotional respite it provided. Since then, yoga has been a constant in Renata's life.
To further deepen her knowledge and share her passion with others, Renata completed a rigorous 350-hour teacher training programme from BWY and Yoga Alliance certified Triyoga between the years 2019 and 2021. During her training, she had the privilege of learning from renowned teachers such as Anna Ashby, Tony Watson, Chris Swain, and Daniel Simpson. Renata acknowledges that she will always be a lifelong student and is grateful for everything her teachers have taught and continue to teach her.
Renata's classes aim to transmit and foster the physical benefits of yoga, such as strength and mobility, while also inspiring her students to engage in their own process of self-discovery and self-enquiry. Through her teachings, she hopes to empower her students to navigate their yoga practise with skill and curiosity, moving in a way that is attuned to their body's needs and limitations.
In addition to teaching, Renata has recently mentored and assisted on the Triyoga Level 1 Teacher Training Programme, led by Anna Ashby and Tony Watson. She has also completed a master's degree in Creative Health at UCL, further expanding her knowledge and understanding of the holistic benefits of yoga.
Renata offers classes on Wednesdays from 6-7pm at the Primrose Hill Community Centre. These classes focus on moving with awareness and precision, allowing students to explore the subtleties of their experience. While the pace may be slower than some styles of yoga, the classes foster strength and mobility, at times incorporating fluid and playful movement. The practise is anchored by the breath and supported by an understanding of anatomy, physiology, and key principles of alignment, all while honouring important aspects of the yoga tradition.
To book a place in Renata's class, individuals can email her at hello@renatabittencourtyoga. Com. The cost of each class is 10, with a concession rate of 7 available. Payments can be made in cash or via bank transfer.
Renata's classes are a wonderful opportunity to experience yoga in the beautiful neighbourhood of Primrose Hill, providing a nurturing space for students to explore their practise and deepen their connexion to body and mind.
