Port Perry Dance Academy (PPDA) was established in September of 2000 and has grown to become the largest dance school in the region. The academy prides itself on having the most qualified, friendly teachers with outstanding experience in teaching children. PPDA has established an unparalleled reputation for training dancers at both a beginner and professional level, while instilling skills like discipline, goal setting, and teamwork. Dancers at PPDA build strong self-confidence that extends beyond the dance studio and helps them succeed in their everyday lives.
PPDA offers classes for dancers as young as 18 months all the way up to adult classes. The academy was proud to have been voted 'Best Dance Studio' in Port Perry via the Reader's Choice Awards in 2021.
Recreational Program: Designed for dancers looking to explore dance in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment. Perfect for those who want to learn new skills, have fun with others their age, build confidence, and socialize. Classes are taught by qualified instructors in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. Dancers are offered flexible schedules and can dance for as many hours per week as they wish.
Competitive Program: Geared towards dancers serious about dance who wish to study all dance disciplines at an elite level. Dancers in this program compete in at least four regional competitions per season. PPDA's competitive dance team has had great success at both regional and national competitions, winning numerous Top Studio, Top Choreography, and Top Overall awards. The focus of this program is on the healthy mental and physical development of the dancers, with an emphasis on self-confidence and a healthy work ethic.
PPDA offers classes for a variety of ages and levels, including Ballet/Pointe, Baby & Me (18 months), Tiny Dancer combo classes, and full-time competitive classes. Classical ballet classes at PPDA are based on the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus (RAD), focusing on posture, alignment, musicality, grace, and ease of movement.
