Sarah, the organiser of Portlethen Bowling Club, has shared a note for the community. Here's what she wants you to know:
Portlethen Bowling Club, nestled in Aberdeen, is your go-to haven for lawn bowls. Since 1986, the club has been welcoming bowlers from 8 to 80 and beyond. It's part of Bowls Scotland, so members get to compete in various matches from April to September.
Sarah points out that despite its size, the club is buzzing with activity. With a licenced premise and a cosy bar (no draught beers, though), it's a great spot for social nights to not only rally funds but also catch up with fellow members and guests.
For the 2024 season, membership fees are now due. You can sort this with the treasurer, via bank transfer, or even at the clubhouse bar. Sarah reminds everyone that these fees need to be squared away if you want to attend the Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 28th January 2024 at 2:30pm.
You can find the club at Bourtree Pavilion, Berrymuir Road, Portlethen, Aberdeen, AB12 4UN. For any queries, give them a ring on 01224 780592 or drop an email to [email protected]. Be sure to check out their Facebook and TeamApp pages for updates.
Directions to the club? From Aberdeen, take the first entry (ASDA flyover) into Portlethen, then the third exit off the roundabout. Follow the road to the T-junction, turn right, then the first left into the shops car park. The club is at the far end behind the pub. Alternatively, take the second left into the car park and follow the path past the tennis courts – the club will be on your right.
Whether you're a pro or just dipping your toes into the sport, Sarah assures you that Portlethen Bowling Club is a welcoming place. Pop by, make some new mates, and join in on the fun.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
