Phoenix Charters operates one of Auckland's premier fishing charters from Westhaven Marina. Our boat is purpose-built for fishing charters, featuring a full walk-around layout that comfortably accommodates up to 8 anglers. It boasts convenient amenities such as a toilet, ample storage, a cooler box with ice, and a live bait tank. We provide all the necessary gear for an enjoyable fishing trip, so you can sit back, relax, and make the most of your time on the water.

Owned by Kirsty and Daniel, Phoenix Charters is led by a team of experienced skippers who are passionate about fishing and ensuring you have a fantastic day out. Connor, one of our skilled skippers, has been fishing since he was young and has garnered rave reviews from our visitors. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, our crew will guide you through the fishing techniques, making sure you have the best chance at catching your desired species. Dan keeps the boat running smoothly, while Kirsty manages the office, and Corey oversees our marine operations.

At Phoenix Charters, we primarily target Snapper and Kingfish, but our fishing trips also offer opportunities to catch Kahawai, John Dory, Trevally, and Gurnard. Our team will guide you through the techniques to maximise your chances of catching your desired species, whether you're already familiar with these fish or new to the fishing scene. We pride ourselves on being one of the few charters in Auckland that focuses on Kingfish, and we love the thrill of reeling them in. Our top-quality Okuma gear enhances the fishing experience, ensuring you have a fun and successful day on the water.

- Departure Times: We depart from Westhaven Marina at 7am for a full-day charter, returning around 3pm. Start times can be amended for private groups or custom bookings.

- Maximum Capacity: Our standard charter can accommodate a maximum of 8 people (shared or private), while our Kingfish charter can take up to 5 participants (6 for private groups). We require a minimum of 6 bookings (5 for Kingfish) for shared charters to proceed.

- Departure Location: We depart from Z Pier at Westhaven Marina, and we offer pick-up and drop-off services from Bayswater for an additional fee. For other pick-up and drop-off requests, please contact us.

- Targeted Fish: While our standard charter primarily targets Snapper, you'll have the opportunity to catch other fish species such as Kingfish, John Dory, Gurnard, Kahawai, Trevally, and even shark!

- Bringing Your Own Rods: We prefer guests not to bring their own rods as they may not be suitable for our fishing style. However, we are open to discussing options if you would like to use your own rods.

- Bait & Techniques: We primarily use soft bait and lures for fishing, except for Kingfish, where we utilise live bait. Our boat is equipped with a live bait tank specifically for Kingfish fishing.

- Best Time for Kingfish: Kingfish can be found all year round, but the fishing season and availability vary. From November to April, there are more Kingfish, making them easier to catch. From May to October, there may be fewer Kingfish, but they tend to be larger. During this period, we only offer private groups as we may only have the opportunity to land 1-2 of them.

To protect the species, we limit our quota to 1 Kingfish take home per person.

- Fish Filleting: We do not fillet fish onboard, and you are not permitted to do so either. Once back at Westhaven, a local company can fillet your fish for a small charge.
