Perthshire Hockey Club is a community-based sports club located in Perth, New Zealand. The club is volunteer-led and is dedicated to the development of young hockey players. The club is extremely grateful for the individuals who generously dedicate their time and expertise to help run the club.
Perthshire Hockey Club follows current best practises in terms of governance and takes its responsibilities as a club seriously. All members and potential members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the club's policies and commitments. If any issues arise, they can be reported to the team captain or a committee member.
Perthshire Hockey Club is all about having fun and enjoying the wonderful sport of hockey. The club offers various teams for both men and women, as well as opportunities for youth players. Their teams participate in different divisions based on their skill level, ensuring a positive and supportive environment for players to develop their skills and game awareness.
The Men's section of Perthshire Hockey Club has grown significantly since its establishment in the 1970s. They now field three senior teams and have a highly successful U16 and U18 boys programme. The Men's 1st team competes in National Division 2 and consists of experienced senior players. Many past youth players have shown remarkable progress and ability to play at this level.
The Men's 2nd team plays in Midlands Division 1 and acts as a feeder and development team for the 1st team. This team is a mix of experienced players and promising youth players. The experienced players provide guidance and support as the younger players develop their skills and game awareness.
The Men's 3rd team competes in Midlands Division 2, which is a development league. This team mainly consists of youth players and serves as their first step into the senior game. Experienced players organise and support the team, providing a positive environment for players to progress as quickly and as far as they want to go. The 3rd team is also open to new adult players who want to try their hand at hockey.
The Ladies section of Perthshire Hockey Club also offers a successful programme with three teams and a clear development structure. The Ladies 1st team competes in National Division 3 and aims to develop and push for playoff placings and promotion to Division 2. The team consists of experienced players, with several players having been developed through the club's youth system.
The Ladies 2nd team competes in Midlands Division 1 and regularly competes for cup and league honours. This team features a mix of experienced and developing youth players, providing a positive environment for players to express themselves and further refine their skills.
The Ladies 3rd team is the development squad playing in Midlands. This team serves as a platform for players to gain experience and progress in their hockey journey.
