The surf lessons at Peg's Surf Coaching are available seven days a week throughout the year. The times of the lessons are matched to the times and size of the predicted tides, ensuring the best conditions for learning and surfing. However, if there is daylight and surf, there's a good chance that you will be able to book a lesson, regardless of the tide. The surf school is mainly based in Perranporth, but they also teach on the beaches in Newquay and St Agnes.
Unlike larger surf schools with a fixed base, Peg's Surf Coaching can easily move the location of lessons in response to the surf conditions on the day. They are flexible and adaptable to ensure the best surf experience for their students.
Pegleg Bennett, also known as Peg, is the owner and head coach of Peg's Surf Coaching. He has been surfing most of his life and has surfed breaks all over the world. With years of experience surfing in Cornwall, specifically in Perranporth and surrounding beaches, Peg is well aware of both the perils and joys of surfing the local breaks. As an amputee surfer himself, Peg maintains a 'can-do' attitude in his approach to coaching, aiming to help surfers of all ages, abilities, and challenges.
Whether you are inexperienced, fearful, have disabilities, or lack confidence, Peg will join you on your surfing journey and find a way for you to fall in love with the sport. He is qualified as a Level 2 surf coach with the International Surfing Association (ISA), a qualified Beach Lifeguard with Surf Life Saving GB (SLSGB), and an Adaptive Surf Instructor with the ISA. Peg is also a coach to members of the English Adaptive Surf Team and the current AASP World Champion in his division.
Pablo, an international surf coach, is also part of the team at Peg's Surf Coaching. He has worked and surfed in South America and Europe and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and surf stories! Pablo has been coaching surfing on Perranporth beach for the past three seasons and has gained a deep understanding of its quirks and unpredictable rips and currents. Local knowledge is essential to ensure the safety of students throughout their lessons.
Pablo is qualified as a Level 1 surf coach with the ISA and is also an Adaptive Surf Instructor. He has three years of experience working with surfers with a range of abilities and is committed to delivering an inclusive lesson for the entire family.
