PCPA Studios, formerly known as Point Cook Performing Arts, is a ballet school located in Hoppers Crossing, Australia. With a focus on providing high-quality dance classes, PCPA Studios offers a range of styles for students aged 3 to 18 years. They have a specialised Kinda Dance programme, Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet examinations, and Australian Teachers of Dancing (A. T.
O. D) Jazz & Tap syllabus classes.
The Classical Ballet programme at PCPA Studios offers classes for different age groups and proficiency levels. For the very young students aged 2–3 years, there is the Baby Ballerina Ballet class. This introductory class is taken with a parent in the room and covers basic ballet steps and imaginative dance play. The Kinda Ballet class, designed for ages 3–5 years, combines basic ballet techniques with dance and play activities, aiming to improve coordination, motor skills, musicality, artistic expression, and self-confidence.
Pre Primary & Primary Ballet classes, aimed at school-aged students aged 5–8 years, focus on mastering the basic steps and technique in a more formal setting, preparing the students for examination classes in the future.
The studio also offers R. A. D Grades 1-8 Examination Ballet classes for students aged 7 years and above. This formal ballet training follows the Royal Academy of Dance training syllabus and offers internationally recognised examinations and assessments to motivate and encourage students of all ages.
To meet the required standards, students attending R. A. D Grades 1-8 Examination Ballet classes are required to attend a minimum of two ballet classes per week. For more serious and dedicated ballet students aged 11 years and above, PCPA Studios offers R.
A. D Vocational Ballet Inter Foundation to Advanced 2 classes. These advanced ballet training classes include pointe training for girls, and students must attend a minimum of three ballet classes a week to meet the required standards.
Pre-Teen & Teen Ballet classes cater to older children aged 10 years and above, providing a beginner to intermediate level class for those wishing to start ballet or continue their training in a more relaxed environment. These classes can include formal ballet technique as well as lyrical or neoclassical style ballet.
Alongside their ballet programme, PCPA Studios also offers Jazz and Tap classes for students aged 3 years and above. The Jazz classes are upbeat and energetic, conducted to current chart music and covering a range of dance steps and techniques such as warm-up, stretch, body isolations, turns, jumps, and kicks. The Tap classes, on the other hand, focus on different rhythms and include a broad range of techniques and steps from beginner to advanced level. Jazz and Tap classes are available to all students, generally running after a ballet class for the same age group.
Kinda and Pre-Primary/Primary Jazz and Tap classes are combined to give younger students a chance to try these fantastic styles while keeping class time to a minimum.
