Welcome to the Otago Yacht Club Inc, a prominent yacht club located in Dunedin, New Zealand. Established in 1869, the Otago Yacht Club has a rich history and is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the region.
The club is renowned for its regular racing events, which include ocean, coastal, and harbour races. These races cater to a wide range of boats, including keelboats, trailer yachts, and centreboard dinghies. The Sailing Programme page on our website provides information on the current season's events.
In addition to racing, the Otago Yacht Club offers a range of facilities and services. The club operates a busy slipway and maintenance yard, capable of accommodating boats weighing up to 12 tonnes. This allows members to easily maintain and service their vessels.
The clubrooms have recently undergone refurbishment and are now well-equipped to host private functions and meetings for local organisations. If you are interested in booking the clubrooms for your event, please contact us.
The Otago Yacht Club is dedicated to fostering the development of sailing skills among young sailors. We offer a Youth Sailing Academy programme on Sunday mornings, catering to children aged 8 and up to secondary school level. Additionally, we run Adult Learn to Sail classes on Sunday mornings throughout the season, catering to university students and adults who wish to learn or improve their sailing skills.
We also extend a warm welcome to visiting sailors, who are encouraged to participate in club activities both on and off the water. With a trailer park accommodating up to 40 boats and pile moorings hosting an additional 25 boats, there is ample space for visiting sailors to dock their vessels.
New members are always welcome at the Otago Yacht Club. Membership applications can be found on our website's Documents page. If you have any inquiries, please refer to the contact person listed on our website.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Otago Yacht Club Inc and sharing in the excitement of sailing in Dunedin.
