The organiser, Sarah Collins, would like to share an update with the sports community regarding the One School of Performing Arts (OSPA) in East London. Established in 2015 by passionate teachers, OSPA aims to provide children with opportunities in performing arts in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Sarah emphasises that OSPA's primary goal is to build children's confidence and self-esteem through the power of performing arts. Additionally, the school promotes the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle, equipping children with skills beneficial for any future career. With experience in TV, film, and theatre, the founders and teachers at OSPA are dedicated to passing on these skills and opportunities to the next generation of performers, adhering to the IDTA syllabus.
OSPA offers a variety of classes including gymnastics, street dance, ballet, singing, and drama/LAMDA. The school provides a full timetable, ensuring there is something for everyone. The OSPA team comprises skilled and dedicated teachers and staff, committed to helping students learn, grow, and succeed. They are always available to answer any questions and provide support to both students and parents.
Sarah is proud to share that OSPA has enjoyed tremendous success in various competitions this year. The school has participated in prestigious events like the HOTSHOTS Regional and National Finals, Starz UK, and 101 Street Dance Events, consistently achieving remarkable results. Group dances have secured first place in both street dance and lyrical categories, and solo, duo, and trio performances in street dance have also placed first. OSPA has been recognised as Hotshots Most Outstanding Dance School, further cementing their reputation for excellence.
Furthermore, Sarah highlights the achievements of OSPA's students in examinations. All students who took their IDTA exams in April 2023 passed with flying colours, earning scores above 80/100, with some achieving exceptional scores in the 90s, among the highest in the entire UK. OSPA also celebrates the success of its students in ABRSM piano exams, with many receiving merits and distinctions. LAMDA students have also impressively passed their acting exams.
In addition to providing quality dance education, OSPA offers unique opportunities outside the studio. Some students have been featured in VELVET FIRE's music video "No Safety," showcasing their talents and passion for performing arts.
