Welcome to Old Basing Bowling Club, located in the greater Old Basing and Lychpit parish of Basingstoke, New Zealand. Our club offers a warm and friendly environment, top-notch facilities, and one of the finest greens in Hampshire, with six rinks available for play.
At Old Basing Bowling Club, everyone is welcome, whether you're a seasoned bowler looking to improve your game or a beginner seeking a new hobby. Our club is affiliated with various prestigious associations, including Bowls England, Bowls Hampshire, Basingstoke District Bowling Association, Whitchurch and District Bowling League, and the North Hants Women's Bowling Association.
Established in 1948, Old Basing Bowling Club has a rich history that dates back to the aftermath of World War II. Over the years, numerous villagers and Basingstoke residents have enjoyed the game of bowls on our green and contributed to the development of our exceptional facilities. In 2023, we celebrate our 75th Anniversary, with a host of special matches and events planned to mark this significant milestone.
Led by our President, Maurice Hockley, the club has witnessed an influx of new members over the past two years. This continues to create a vibrant and inclusive community, as evidenced by our growing social calendar.
In addition to our regular games, Old Basing Bowling Club hosts a range of social events and activities. For example, Friday Night Socials are a popular tradition, such as the upcoming Quiz Night on December 15th, where participants can test their knowledge while enjoying food and prizes. On December 22nd, we will also be hosting a Christmas Pub Night in the clubhouse, where Christmas jumpers are encouraged but not mandatory.
Old Basing Bowling Club is also well-known for its annual tours, allowing members to explore different locations while enjoying friendly matches and camaraderie. In 2024, we will be heading to Torquay, staying at The Carlton Hotel, which is part of the TLH Leisure Resort. This exciting trip will include three nights of half-board accommodation, coach travel from Basing, local matches in Torquay, and a final match on the journey home.
