Paul Jones School of Judo, right here in Basingstoke, is where judo enthusiasts of all ages come together. Paul offers classes for everyone from Year 1 kids (age 5) to adults, whether you're new to judo or looking to sharpen your skills. Classes run every Saturday during school terms, and you can even pop in for a taster session if you fancy giving it a go.
Paul's not just busy on Saturdays, though. He's a full-time judo teacher and runs Southern Schools, bringing judo to schools across London and the Southern Region. Plus, he organises the Southern Schools Championships, open to judo students from all over, not just his club.
Founded back in 1999 by Judo Paul, who's trained with the GB team and even in Japan, the club has seen some serious success. They've produced six national medallists, including Shelly Ludford, their youngest gold medallist, who still competes internationally. The club has dominated the Basingstoke League three years in a row, won the Hampshire league, and taken top spots in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Games multiple times.
