Fiona Swan leads Nordic Walking Devon, an exciting outdoor activity organiser and fitness centre based in Exeter, Devon. Surrounded by the stunning coast and countryside, Fiona offers a unique way to boost health and fitness through Nordic walking. The main hub is at Exeter's Haldon Forest Park, featuring dedicated trails of 2.5K, 4K, and 5K.
Ideal for all fitness levels and simple to pick up, Nordic walking uses the British Nordic Walking - INWA 10 Steps Training Method. Fiona provides group or one-to-one training sessions, complete with Leki Nordic walking poles.
Nordic walking offers numerous benefits. It tones the upper body, enhances aerobic fitness, and makes tackling hills easier. It's also gentle on the lower body, making it perfect for those with hip, knee, or ankle issues. Plus, it's a social activity that lets participants enjoy nature while working out.
Beyond regular Nordic walking, Fiona organises Coast and Countryside walks on Tuesday mornings and Nordic fitness walks at Haldon Forest Park. These walks are for those trained in Nordic walking. Additionally, Fiona’s Pilates classes complement the benefits of Nordic walking.
With over a decade of experience, Fiona is dedicated to keeping people fit. She has extensive training and is also a certified Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer with additional qualifications in Exercise Referral, Pre and Post Natal exercise, and Lower Back Pain management. Fiona collaborates with Rachel Dixon, a qualified forest school teacher, to offer Nordic walking holidays and retreats.
Committed to sustainability, Nordic Walking Devon funds climate projects through Ecologi, already reducing 10 tonnes of carbon emissions. Fiona plans to further cut the centre’s environmental impact by switching to an electric car.
Nordic Walking Devon promotes fitness and environmental stewardship, offering a fantastic way to enjoy Exeter’s beautiful outdoors while staying healthy. With varied sessions, regular walks, and supplementary fitness classes, Fiona provides options for everyone.
