Yoga is a transformative practise that fosters self-discovery and inner peace. In Semaphore Park, Australia, there is a dedicated and compassionate yoga instructor named Niki Koutroulis, the founder of Niki K Yoga. With over 20 years of experience, Niki is not only a skilled yoga teacher but also an intuitive empathic healer.
Niki's journey into spirituality and yoga began at the young age of 14. Born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, she has spent her life immersed in the study of yoga, meditation, and personal and spiritual growth. In the early 90s, Niki made the brave decision to leave her corporate career in Telecommunications and Advertising to pursue her passion for yoga and natural health.
Throughout her journey, Niki has extensively studied under renowned spiritual masters, yoga teachers, and healers both in Australia and internationally. She has delved into various holistic practises such as Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Massage, Reiki, Divine Healing, and Beauty Therapy. Niki's thirst for knowledge has also taken her to South East Asia, where she attended classes, workshops, and retreats in India, Bali, and Thailand. Her experiences in these places shaped her understanding of mindful silent meditation practises and Buddhism.
She even had the honour of meeting and receiving a blessing from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which left a lasting impact on her inner peace and compassion.
Inspired by her studies, Niki completed her degree in Early childhood education and a BA at Flinders University in 2014. She is passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga and mindfulness with the next generation, teaching yoga and mindfulness in schools for children ranging in ages from 0 to 18 years old.
Alongside her dedication to personal growth, Niki is also committed to social activism, environmental awareness, and community service. She has volunteered at organisations such as The Aids Council of South Australia, teaching English to Tibetan Refugees in India, and providing emergency outreach for teenagers through the Service to Youth Council of Australia. Niki has also contributed her yoga and meditation teachings to various groups, including children with disabilities, Aboriginal women, and yoga classes for the community.
Niki's philosophy of yoga revolves around embracing the ancient art in a safe, gentle, and loving way. She understands the importance of mindfulness and intuition in the practise and encourages her students to connect with their own inner wisdom. Her classes are designed to enhance physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, with an emphasis on Pranayama (breathing practises), Yoga Nidra (relaxation), and meditation. The practises Niki teaches provide lifelong tools to cope with the daily stresses of life and invite practitioners to be present and observe whatever arises.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced yogi, Niki's classes are tailored to accommodate all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds. Her yoga community is known for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, fostered by semi-private, intimate classes that create a nurturing and restorative environment.
