Welcome to Nicola's School of Dance, located in Woodford Green. Established in 1991, our dance school offers a variety of classes including ballet, tap dancing, modern stage dancing, and jazz for children starting from the age of 3 years. Our classes are intentionally kept small to ensure that each student receives personalised attention and instruction.
For our youngest dancers aged 3 and 4, we offer pre-school classes that provide an introduction to ballet and tap dance. As students progress, we introduce modern dance from the age of 5, and from the age of 7, children can also choose to enrol in jazz and singing classes.
At Nicola's School of Dance, we follow the syllabuses provided by the 'Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance' and the British Association of Teachers of Dance. Our goal is for every student to have the opportunity to take examinations based on their age and ability. We hold grade and medal examinations annually and all of our pupils have the chance to showcase their skills in our annual shows.
We are proud to mention that since our school opened, proceeds from our shows have been donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children. Additionally, our senior school students have the opportunity to perform in West End Shows, allowing them to gain valuable experience and exposure.
We offer a free trial for the first lesson, giving parents the chance to watch the class. Following this, parents are kindly asked to either leave their children or wait in the changing room. Our experienced teachers may use a hands-on technique to correct posture and ensure proper technique.
To encourage regular attendance, class fees must be paid monthly in advance, even if the pupil does not attend lessons. The school observes closures for Easter, May half-term, summer holidays, Christmas, and Bank Holiday Mondays. Parents will be notified of these closures in advance.
To maintain the school's reputation, we require all pupils to wear the correct uniform and be properly groomed for class. This includes tying up hair securely and removing jewellery for health and safety reasons. Dancewear can be conveniently purchased online through our website.
We are proud of our achievements at Nicola's School of Dance, and our senior school students receive funding through achievement awards from the JP Foundation. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality dance education and ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all of our students.
