About

Newton Aycliffe Karate Club has always held a special place in Amy Daniels' heart. Located right in Newton Aycliffe, Durham, the club stands out for its dedication to teaching traditional karate techniques while nurturing discipline, respect, and self-improvement among its members.

Amy, who organises the training sessions, works with a team of seasoned instructors to offer classes for children aged 6 to 9, as well as sessions for older kids and adults. The club uses a structured grading syllabus which helps members progress through the ranks, achieving higher belt levels as their skills improve.

The sessions are held at the Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre on Burn Lane (DL5 4HT). On Tuesdays, kids aged 6 to 9 can train from 7pm to 8pm, while the older groups, including adults, train from 8pm to 9pm. Thursdays follow a similar schedule, with young children training from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and the older groups from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

Training fees are quite reasonable, with sessions costing £2.00 for children and £3.00 for adults. This affordability ensures that everyone, regardless of age or skill level, can join in and enhance their karate skills in a welcoming and inclusive setting.

Amy and the team also organise special events to broaden the learning experience. Occasionally, experts like Sensei Iain Abernethy are invited to conduct specialised courses and seminars, delving into specific karate techniques such as bunkai.

To keep everyone up-to-date, the club maintains a Facebook page and an informative blog, where members can find news, events, and achievements. Resources such as the grading syllabus, karate terminology, and links to useful martial arts websites are also available to help members deepen their understanding of karate.

Proudly affiliated with the British Combat Karate Association (BCKA), under the leadership of Sensei Peter Consterdine and Geoff Thompson, Newton Aycliffe Karate Club adheres to the highest standards of karate training.

Whether you're just starting out on your karate journey or you're an experienced practitioner, Amy and the Newton Aycliffe Karate Club team offer a supportive environment to help you learn and practise karate effectively.
