The Newton Abbot Ladies' 10K is gearing up to be an exciting event for all fitness enthusiasts out there! Organised by the Teignbridge Trotters Running Club, this annual race is set to take place on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, starting at 10am. Get ready to lace up your running shoes and join in on the action!
Picture this: the race starts and finishes at the beautiful Dornafield Caravan and Camping Site, nestled in the stunning surroundings of Newton Abbot, Devon. To ensure your utmost comfort, top-notch changing facilities and showers will be at your disposal at the venue. We want you to feel fresh and ready to conquer the course!
Speaking of the course, get ready to be blown away by its sheer beauty. The Newton Abbot Ladies' 10K follows undulating rural lanes, with minimal traffic to worry about. As you make your way through the scenic course, you'll pass by the delightful hamlets of Ogwell and Denbury. To ensure your safety, the route is well-marshalled, and we even have ambulance cover on standby. Safety first, always!
Now, we do have a few rules to keep in mind. As much as we love our tunes, we kindly ask that you refrain from using headphones during the race. We want everyone to stay alert and fully immersed in the race experience. Let's enjoy the natural sounds of the course and cheer each other on!
We'd hate for you to miss out on the opportunity to participate, so here's a heads up: the race has a strict limit of 300 participants. So, to secure your spot, we highly recommend entering online as soon as possible. Registration will open from [date]. Don't worry, if there are still spots available on the day, we'll accept entries then too. But why wait? Secure your place now!
This race holds a special place in our hearts as we remember the late Mr. Peter Dewhirst, the previous owner of Dornafield. He was a true supporter of this event, and to honour his memory, we proudly present the Peter Dewhirst Memorial Cup to the race winner. This extraordinary trophy will remain at Dornafield for future presentations, reminding us of Mr. Dewhirst's unwavering support.
Apart from the excitement of the race, we're also proud to announce that a donation of £2 from each entry fee will be made to Bowel Cancer UK. This fantastic charity has benefited from the race since its inception, and we're thrilled to continue supporting their incredible work. And of course, what's a race without refreshments? We'll have those covered too, including our famous Trotter cakes. Trust us, you don't want to miss out on those delicious treats!
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsor, Sibelco. Their support makes this event possible. As a token of appreciation, all finishers will receive a unique print by the talented local artist John Charles Skinner. Your print number will correspond to your race position, making it a truly special keepsake. Talk about a well-deserved reward!
Let's not forget about the prizes! We'll be awarding prizes to the top 5 ladies overall and recognising the winners in various age categories. Additionally, there will be team prizes for the top 3 teams. So, round up your running buddies and get ready to celebrate your achievements together!
At the Teignbridge Trotters Running Club, we're passionate about inspiring young participants. That's why we're offering free entry to 15-17-year-olds. We want to encourage a love for fitness from an early age. Plus, we'll permit number transfers on the day of the race. Just keep in mind that an administration charge of £3 per transfer applies.
Race numbers can be collected on the day from Race HQ, and if you have any entry queries, please reach out to Liz Barnett. For all other race-related inquiries, feel free to contact Debbie Elphick at [email protected]. We're here to help and ensure you have the best race experience possible.
So, what are you waiting for? Mark your calendars for the Newton Abbot Ladies' 10K and get ready to experience a day of exhilarating fitness and camaraderie. Lace up those running shoes, gather your friends, and join us on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, at the Dornafield Caravan and Camping Site in Newton Abbot. We can't wait to see you there!
