Welcome to Newcastle United Golf Club, located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland. Since 1892, this prestigious golf club has been welcoming golfers to its picturesque moorland course, just a short distance from the heart of the North East's largest city.
The club is situated on Nuns Moor and its course, which opened in 1973, provides a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. While primarily a members' club, visitors are warmly welcomed throughout the year to enjoy the stunning moorland layout and to visit the inviting clubhouse and Golf and Gossip Shop.
Newcastle United Golf Club has its roots in the Newcastle United Workmen's Club, which was founded on June 4, 1892, during a meeting in Lockhart's Cocoa Rooms on Clayton Street. The club takes great pride in continuing to offer a warm welcome to golfers of all ages and abilities, staying true to its rich history.
Despite the similarities in name and formation year with the famous Newcastle United Football Club (which was formed on December 9 of the same year), there are no formal ties between the two organisations. However, many notable footballers have played the golf course throughout its long history and still visit to this day.
The course at Newcastle United Golf Club measures an impressive 6,600 yards from the back tees and has a par of 72. It is a regular host of Northumberland County Golf Union events and matches, showcasing its reputation as a formidable challenge. The tall rough, long par fours and fives, and undulating greens make this moorland layout a true test of golfing skill, serving as a proving ground for champions.
