Welcome to Nailsea Karate, a traditional Karate club located in North Somerset, serving the communities of Long Ashton, Tickenham, Wraxall, Flax Bourton, and Backwell. With our team of expert instructors, we have a long history of helping students from the area reach their potential through the martial arts. Nailsea Karate is proud to be a Bristol Karate Academy dojo and is affiliated with the Karate Union of Great Britain, a highly esteemed association globally.
At Nailsea Karate, we teach the Shotokan style of Karate, which is the most widely practised form worldwide. Our instructors, also known as 'Senseis', train with some of the best practitioners in the UK and the world, enabling them to bring these teachings, along with their own skills, directly to our students.
The training at Nailsea Karate promotes overall health, fitness, and well-being for both adults and children. The concentration, commitment, and dedication required in Karate can help individuals build a strong, confident, and determined character.
For those new to Karate, we provide all the necessary information to give it a try. We offer two classes every Wednesday evening at Nailsea School in the Dance Studio, accessible through the school's Community Entrance. The 6. 30pm class caters to adults and children, from complete beginners upwards.
The 7. 30pm class is for adults and children from 3rd kyu and above (brown and black belts). By teaching separate classes, we ensure that the content is tailored to the participants' level of experience.
In addition to our regular classes, our sister club, Backwell Karate, offers training on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. We also welcome visitors to any Bristol Karate Academy dojo, where you can expect a warm welcome.
Our classes cover a full traditional Karate syllabus, including basics, kata (traditional sequences or forms), and sparring. We start with controlled drills for beginners and progress to free sparring for more experienced individuals. However, the emphasis is always on personal development and helping individuals reach their goals. Whether it's achieving the next belt, competing in tournaments, or simply staying fit while learning a traditional martial art, we are here to support you.
Located in the heart of Nailsea, our Karate school is easily accessible by car. We are situated near Clevedon, halfway between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.
