The Naenae Boxing Academy in Lower Hutt is here to support local youth in their growth, both personally and physically, through boxing and fitness. Founded on Treadwell Street in January 2006 by Billy Graham, a well-known Kiwi guest speaker with a passion for helping young people, the Academy is more than just a gym.
Running under the Naenae Youth Charitable Trust, a recognised charity, the Academy sets high standards and aims to be top-notch. It teaches life skills through boxing and fitness, using a scientific approach to self-defence to build discipline and confidence.
Billy Graham is inspired by his own mentor, Dick Dunn, and wants to give New Zealand’s youth the same haven and values he received. The Academy is open to both boys and girls and aims to replicate the positive environment Billy experienced.
Leading the team, Tash Thompson manages the place, while David Graham is the Interim Head Coach. Club Coaches Paegan Edmonds-Topia and Jordan Quinn are on board to make sure everyone gets expert advice and support.
The Academy runs thanks to the backing of its community and welcomes any support. Whether big or small, every bit helps. If you want to get involved, reach out by phone, email, or drop by on the corner of Treadwell and Sladden Street in Naenae.
Part of the Billy Graham Youth Foundation, the Academy is driven to empower young Kiwis. With four academies and six affiliates, the Foundation has already helped 1,878 kids and counting. They are dedicated to building future leaders and making a positive impact, with continued community support being key.
The Naenae Boxing Academy is committed to creating champions and leaders. Their programmes are designed to help youth achieve their best, backed by the local community and the Billy Graham Youth Foundation.
