Murun-Qi is a unique and inclusive Yoga studio located in the vibrant community of Maroubra, Sydney. The name Murun-Qi combines both the Aboriginal and Chinese languages to symbolise 'the source' and our deep connexion to it. In other cultures, this life force energy is known as Prana, Aka, Hara, or Qi. It represents more than just words on a page; it encompasses the essence of life, energy, breath, and the circulating life force that initiates everything.
Founded by sisters Maddy and Hannah, who grew up in the beautiful surroundings of Bronte Beach, Murun-Qi is driven by their shared love and passion for natural movement principles, nourishing food, nature, family, and connecting with all beings. Drawing upon teachings from ancient and modern wisdom traditions, as well as knowledge passed down through generations, Maddy and Hannah offer a holistic and sustainable approach to healing, processing, and living with joy and ease.
Hannah's personal journey is a testament to the transformative power of their teachings. After years of dedicating her energy and Qi to raising children and navigating an unstable relationship, Hannah found herself overwhelmed and out of balance. But everything changed when she embarked on her first Strla yoga teacher training in New York City, under the guidance of Tara Stiles. Rediscovering the love of movement and her body, Hannah began to transform her life by embracing natural movement and living with ease.
Despite the external challenges and responsibilities, such as being a single mother of four, a café owner, and dealing with relationship trauma, Hannah was able to shift her perspective and navigate life with joy and sustainability.
In 2020, Hannah's journey led her to Zenthai, which she discovered at a spirit festival in Byron Bay. Intrigued by the ancient healing wisdom of eastern medicine and the profound connexion between two bodies in conversation, she embarked on Zenthai trainings, ultimately becoming a certified therapist in 2021. Zenthai encompasses all the modalities that she loves, including yoga, shiatsu, connexion, dance, music, and intuitive healing.
At Murun-Qi, you will find a warm and welcoming space where individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together to explore the transformative power of yoga, Zenthai, and natural movement. The studio's dedicated team of teachers and therapists share a commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where everyone can embark on their unique healing journey.
In addition to regular yoga classes and Zenthai therapy sessions, Murun-Qi also offers meditation, workshops, and retreats, allowing individuals to deepen their practise and foster a sense of community and connexion. The studio is deeply committed to cultivating a culture of inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that all individuals feel seen, supported, and inspired to embrace their own unique path.
As you step into Murun-Qi, you will be greeted by a space infused with gratitude and respect for the land that we inhabit. The studio acknowledges the Bidjigal and Gadigal people as the traditional owners, caretakers, and custodians of the land and water on which the studio stands. The team at Murun-Qi recognises and honours the deep connexion that the traditional owners have to the land, water, and culture both in the past, present, and future.
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, Murun-Qi welcomes you to join their community and embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. Come and experience the power of reconnecting with your inner source, and discover the joy and ease that comes from living in alignment with your true essence.
