Move For Wellness 21

Move For Wellness 21 is a Fitness centre located in Bushey, dedicated to promoting physical and mental health through movement and enjoyment of life. Officially launched in February 2021, in the midst of a global lockdown, Move For Wellness aims to provide individuals with the means to improve their overall well-being, even in challenging circumstances.

The vision behind Move For Wellness was inspired by the dreary winter weather in the UK, which often made it difficult for people to engage in outdoor activities. Consequently, many individuals found themselves confined indoors, binge-watching television shows and consuming unhealthy foods, resulting in a decline in mental and physical health. To counteract this, Move For Wellness recognised the importance of raising endorphin levels to enhance feelings of happiness and contentment. According to research, four effective ways to achieve this are exercise, laughter, pet cuddles, and intimate pleasure.

Given the limitations imposed by the lockdown, Move For Wellness focused on exercise as a means to uplift the spirits of participants.

During lockdowns, numerous personal trainers generously shared exercise programmes for individuals to follow at home. However, for some, the mere thought of engaging in a 20-30 minute exercise class was daunting. Move For Wellness sought to address this issue by designing daily exercise sessions that last for precisely 2. 21 minutes.

This approach allows participants to customise the length and intensity of their workouts to suit their personal preferences and physical abilities. Move For Wellness aimed to cater to a diverse range of individuals, including those facing medical challenges, living in small living spaces, or simply feeling down. The inclusive nature of the exercise sessions has attracted a global community, with over 100,000 individuals now participating worldwide.

While exercise forms a fundamental aspect of Move For Wellness, the fitness centre also focuses on raising funds to support Talking Cafés. These cafés, which operate as independent coffee shops, provide a safe space where trained healers and helpers can offer assistance to individuals in need. Unfortunately, many people are unable to afford the cost of effective help and healing. Move For Wellness aims to bridge this gap by providing ongoing support to Talking Cafés, enabling those in pain to access the assistance they require.

The cafés bring together individuals who are going through similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and reminding them that they are not alone. The specific Talking Cafés that Move For Wellness aims to support are those catering to mental health, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the LGBTQ+ community, bereavement, children's hospices, and drug rehabilitation centres.

Move For Wellness has set a fundraising target of 365,000 to support mental health causes. Contributions can be made through their JUST GIVING page, with 1,350 raised thus far. In addition to their ongoing efforts, Move For Wellness also organises various events to further their mission of promoting wellness and movement in the community.
