Mount Eliza Taekwondo is a martial arts club located in Mount Eliza, Victoria. The club is a branch of the Melbourne Taekwondo Centre, which has been operating for over 30 years and has produced numerous State, National, and International Champions.
The Head Instructor of Mount Eliza Taekwondo is Barry Akehurst, a 7th Dan Black Belt. Barry is not only a highly accomplished martial artist but also a former Secretary General and President of Taekwondo Victoria Inc. He has represented Australia at two World Championships and has been a National Referee and an accredited Coach. Barry's experience and qualifications make him a respected leader in the Australian Taekwondo community.
At Mount Eliza Taekwondo, the focus is on providing a safe and friendly learning environment for children and adults. The club is affiliated with Taekwondo Victoria Inc, Australian Taekwondo Victoria, and Australian Taekwondo, which are associated with various national and international sports bodies such as The Australian Sports Foundation, The Australian Institute Of Sport, and The World Taekwondo Federation.
The club offers Taekwondo classes for beginners, intermediates, and seniors. The class timetable includes sessions on Thursdays at the 1st Ranelagh Scout Hall in Mount Eliza. The beginners' class is from 5-6pm, while the intermediates/seniors class is from 6-7pm. The classes aim to teach fundamental skills, build confidence, discipline, and self-defence abilities while also promoting fitness and overall well-being.
In addition to regular classes, Mount Eliza Taekwondo also offers Taekwondo birthday parties.
