Mountain Walking is a mountaineering class located in Ormskirk, offering guided walks and customised events for both beginners and experienced walkers. The class is led by Nick Phillips, a qualified Mountain Leader and National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) Bronze and Silver tutor.
The goal of Mountain Walking is to guide and inspire participants to explore and enjoy their time in the mountains and valleys. They offer custom walking days and short walking breaks in the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Northern Pennines. Whether you're looking for a new challenge or want to enhance your mountain walking skills, Mountain Walking is there to help you achieve your goals and next adventure.
For those seeking a significant challenge, Mountain Walking offers a guided ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks. This tough 12-hour trek covers the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside in a circular route spanning 24 miles (38. 6 km) and involving 5000 ft (1600 metres) of vertical ascent. The traditional start is Horton-in-Ribblesdale, but participants have the flexibility to choose their own starting point, with Ribblehead being a popular alternative.
The best time to attempt this challenge is from spring to late summer/early autumn to make the most of daylight hours.
Guides from Mountain Walking are qualified mountain leaders who prioritise safety and fun during the ascent. They provide event organisation and support, as well as carry a first aid kit, as all guides are qualified first-aiders. Participants are responsible for their own travel, meals, accommodations, and personal insurance.
Joining Mountain Walking will not only provide you with the opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of the mountains but also challenge yourself physically and mentally. Contact them via phone, WhatsApp, or email to start your mountain walking journey with a guided walk led by experienced professionals.
