Mischa is a passionate and experienced Yoga instructor based in New Zealand. With a background in French Literature and Dance, she first discovered her love for yoga in 2001 during her time at university. Unlike the demanding and competitive nature of dance, Mischa was drawn to yoga's emphasis on self-care and fostering a sense of community.
Mischa's dedication to her craft led her to complete a 500-hour teacher training programme with Bristol City Yoga in 2010, earning her certification from the Yoga Alliance. Since then, she has continued to expand her knowledge and expertise by studying with teachers from various backgrounds and disciplines. Recently, Mischa completed a diploma in Well Woman Yoga with the Birthlight Trust, focusing on the intersection of women's health and yoga.
In her classes, Mischa aims to honour the breath-centred tradition of yoga and embrace the ancient definition of vinyasa, which means to proceed step by step. She encourages her students to let go and be present in their practise, combining gentle or dynamic moving meditations with other powerful yoga techniques such as mudra (hand gestures), mantra (chanting), or yoga nidra (yogic sleep).
No matter the focus of the class, Mischa emphasises the importance of honouring one's own body and modifying the practise as needed. She creates a joyful and inclusive atmosphere where students can experience freedom in body, mind, and spirit. Drawing upon her knowledge of Hatha and Well Woman Yoga, these classes aim to support women's health by creating a safe space for transformation, healing, and empowerment. Focusing on practises and poses that specifically benefit the female body, these sessions provide balance and well-being on spiritual, physical, and hormonal levels.
Furthermore, Mischa offers yoga classes catered to mothers, including expectant mothers and new mothers. These sessions provide a nurturing and restorative environment for pregnant women (after the first trimester) as well as for mothers with babies and toddlers.
