Body strong and healthy. I believe that yoga is a wonderful tool for mothers to connect with their bodies, relax, and prepare for the birthing process. In my pre and postnatal classes, I focus on safe and gentle movements, breath work, and relaxation techniques that support both the mother and baby.
In addition to my regular classes, I also offer yoga weekends and one-on-one therapy sessions. These sessions allow me to provide a more personalised experience and cater to the specific needs of each individual. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, dealing with chronic pain, or simply looking for a deeper understanding of their practise, I am dedicated to helping them on their journey.
Miranda Yoga's teaching style is a fusion of classical Hatha yoga with elements of Vinyasa flow. Having explored various styles of yoga and trained with renowned teachers, such as Shiva Rea and Janet Stone in America, I have incorporated the best aspects of each into my own unique approach. Music also plays a significant role in my classes, as I believe it has the power to transform moods and create a wonderful atmosphere.
One of the main focuses of my classes is the breath. I firmly believe that proper breathing can have a profound impact on both the mind and body, setting yoga apart from other forms of exercise. I emphasise correct breathing techniques, as incorrect breathing can lead to anxiety, depression, and various physical issues. By teaching students how to breathe in a healthy way, I hope to provide them with a valuable takeaway from each class.
I have a strong fascination with anatomy and how the body functions in yoga postures. Continuously seeking to expand my knowledge and understanding, I frequently attend workshops and learn from influential figures like Julie Gudmestad, Donna Farhi, and Pete Blackaby. This dedication allows me to help my students optimise their practise and avoid injury by prioritising breath, alignment, and safety in all poses.
Though my classes are strength-building and dynamic, I always stress the importance of listening to one's body and respecting its limits. I offer different stages of difficulty for each pose and encourage my students to progress at their own pace. I want them to feel empowered and confident in their practise while fostering a sense of mindfulness that can be incorporated into their daily lives.
Each class concludes with a relaxation session, often including visualisations and positive affirmations. I find great joy in witnessing the peaceful smiles on everyone's faces at the end of each lesson. I also provide private yoga sessions for those seeking a more therapeutic approach, as well as a nurturing class specifically tailored to older students or individuals with specific health concerns.
Teaching yoga to pregnant and postpartum individuals is something I am passionate about. Having completed a diploma course with appleyoga's Katy Appleton, I am trained to guide mothers through this transformative period. Yoga can provide immense support during pregnancy, helping women maintain their physical and mental well-being.
Overall, Miranda Yoga is committed to offering small, personalised classes and sessions that cater to the specific needs of each individual. With a focus on breath, alignment, safety, and mindfulness, I aim to empower and support my students on their yoga journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this transformative practise and assist others in experiencing the incredible benefits of yoga.
