Tyra Skibington, the founder of Mind Over Mat, is a certified Yoga Instructor (RYT-200) with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. With over 15 years of experience in health and wellness promotion, Tyra is passionate about making fitness accessible, social, and creative. She believes in creating a community-based experience where individuals can disconnect from the digital world and connect with others in a meaningful way.
In addition to yoga classes, Mind Over Mat offers youth development courses such as Babysitter Training and Home Alone preparedness. These programs are designed to equip children with essential life skills, confidence, and certifications from reputable organizations like the Red Cross and Canada Safety Council. Tyra's commitment to youth development and community engagement shines through in all aspects of her work.
Mind Over Mat also hosts seasonal events like HOGA (Hiking Yoga) in the Spring and Fall, where participants can experience the beauty of Kelowna's parks while practising yoga in nature. Private HOGA sessions are also available for groups looking for a more personalized experience. Whether you're a beginner or experienced yogi, Tyra welcomes all levels to her classes and events.
