Mells Hill Equestrian Centre is a horse riding school situated just outside the picturesque North Suffolk town of Halesworth. With a passion for horses and a commitment to providing top-quality tuition and horse care, Mells Hill Equestrian Centre invites riders of all abilities to join them.

At Mells Hill, safety is paramount. They offer standard safety crash skulls (PAS015 & BS EN 1384) for riders without their own helmets. From 1st July 2023, there will be an increase in prices due to rising overheads, but Mells Hill remains dedicated to providing exceptional service and experiences for their riders.

Group lessons are available at Mells Hill, catering to beginners and experienced riders alike. These small group lessons take place on the facility's outdoor rubber arena and on grass. Riders will be matched with horses or ponies suitable for their size, weight, and ability. Lessons can be 30 minutes or 1 hour long, and the centre operates in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe.

For children aged 3 or 4, Mells Hill offers a 15-minute individual “wander” to introduce them to the joy of pony rides.

Private lessons are also available at Mells Hill Equestrian Centre, perfect for those who prefer one-on-one tuition. You have the option to bring your own horse, as the centre provides ample parking for boxes and trailers. Whether you are a complete beginner or seeking to improve your riding skills, private lessons can be tailored to your specific needs, be it improving your position and aids, learning dressage movements, or preparing for competitions. Private lessons can be focused on flatwork or jumping.

Mells Hill Equestrian Centre also offers special programmes such as the “Own a Pony” week during summer holidays, which provides fun-filled activities for children. They also organise Introduction to Riding Days, offering newcomers a chance to experience the joy and excitement of horse riding.

For horse owners, Mells Hill provides various livery options to suit different needs. Experienced staff are on hand to care for horses, catering to full-time, DIY (Do-It-Yourself), and holiday liveries.
