MasterClass Dance Studios

Welcome to MasterClass Dance Studios, a modern, and energetic dance school located in New Plymouth, Taranaki. We offer a variety of dance genres including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Acrobatic Arts.

Our classes cater to dancers of all ages and skill levels, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Whether you're a beginner looking to try out dance for the first time, or an experienced dancer looking to refine your technique, our experienced faculty is here to guide and support you on your dance journey.

Ballet is a crucial foundation for any dancer, and at MasterClass Dance Studios, we prioritise the development of posture, coordination, and musicality through our Classical Ballet classes. We encourage all our students to incorporate ballet into their dance training alongside other disciplines.

Jazz classes at our studio follow the fun and exciting NZAMD syllabus, choreographed by the renowned Keith Clifton from the United States. Students can expect comprehensive warm-ups, stretches, floor work, progressions, and combinations that challenge and inspire.

For those who love urban dance styles, our Hip Hop classes follow the NZAMD Hip Hop syllabus. Students will learn funky exercises, creative combinations, and dances while also incorporating open work to stay up-to-date with modern styles.

Tap dance enthusiasts will enjoy our American Tap classes, following the NZAMD syllabus. Suitable for ages 7 and up, our tap classes focus on rhythmical development through barre work, centre work, and set dances.

Contemporary dance, choreographed by Ann Dewey, is another popular genre at MasterClass Dance Studios. Our students, starting from 9 years old, learn the innovative NZAMD Contemporary Syllabus, often described as “Yoga for Dancers. ” The syllabus focuses on understanding the concepts of contemporary movement, such as weight, flow, momentum, and the use of gravity.

We also offer Acrobatic Arts classes, which provide a comprehensive programme based on safe and effective progressions. Developed with input from professionals and experts in various dance and acrobatics disciplines, our Acrobatic Arts classes focus on flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering, and tumbling.
