The Martial Arts and Fitness Centre (MAFC) is a renowned martial arts school located in Newport, New Zealand. With its main branch on Chepstow Road, Maindee, MAFC has grown significantly over the years, expanding its reach to several satellite clubs in Caldicot, Llanfoist, Risca, Rogerstone, St Arvans, and Undy. The centre is led by Chief Instructor Master Gary Gassor, an 8th Degree Black Belt, along with a team of expert instructors and managers.
Established in 1983 by Master Gary Gassor and his wife Kay Gassor, the school initially conducted classes in various local leisure centres, community halls, and schools. However, in 1998, they opened the Martial Arts and Fitness Centre to offer a comprehensive range of classes for physical fitness and martial arts instruction.
At MAFC, they offer classes in ITF Taekwon-Do, Kickboxing, Budo Ju-Jitsu, and Fitness/Cardio for individuals aged 4 years and above. The centre is affiliated with reputable organisations such as the United Kingdom International Taekwon-Do Federation (UK ITF), International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), British Taekwon-Do Council (BTC), Budo Ju-Jitsu Self Defence Academy, and the National Association of Karate and Martial Arts Schools (NAKMAS).
The dedicated team of instructors at MAFC includes Chief Instructor Master Gary Gassor, his son Aaron Gassor (a 4th Degree Black Belt), Mr. Watts (a 3rd Degree Black Belt), Mr. Vince Black (a 2nd Degree Black Belt), Mr. Colin Evans (an Assistant Instructor with a 1st Degree Black Belt), and others.
The centre also has a receptionist/administrator, Mrs. Gassor-Jones, and a manager, Mr. Heyman-Heybyrne.
