Dojo SKC is a Shotokan Karate club based in London. With a history that dates back to the 1970s, the club was originally founded by the late Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda. Sensei Enoeda was a key figure in bringing Shotokan karate to the UK.
During his time, Sensei Enoeda turned the Marshall Street Dojo into a thriving martial arts club. It wasn't just a place to train—it was his office, a business hub, and the headquarters for the Japan Karate Association (JKA) in Europe. The dojo became a close-knit community of dedicated students. Sensei Enoeda focused on developing strong and skilled karateka, and the club’s achievements reflected this.
In the 80s and 90s, under Sensei Enoeda’s leadership, the dojo saw incredible success in tournaments, winning numerous regional titles and in 1997, they clinched their first national championship. This was a huge moment for Sensei Enoeda and showcased the high standards of his club.
Unfortunately, the original dojo closed in 2000, and Sensei Enoeda passed away in 2003. However, in 2011, Sensei Craig Raye, one of Sensei Enoeda's top students and a close friend, reopened the dojo to carry on his legacy. Sensei Craig, a 6th Dan, has been practising Shotokan Karate for over 40 years.
Sensei Craig has had a notable career, including being the 1994 individual Kumite Champion and part of the 1997 National Team Championship. He has participated in and won numerous competitions from 1981 to 2001. He also represented England in international competitions.
Now as the chief instructor at Marshall Street Dojo SKC, Sensei Craig continues to carry on Sensei Enoeda's teachings. The dojo is a proud member of the JKA World Federation England within the Kawasoe Group.
