Marsden Park Galaxy Football Club (MPGFC) is the newest and fastest growing football club in the City of Blacktown. The club was established in January 2020 and is now participating in the official competition of the Blacktown District Soccer Football Association (BDSFA). MPGFC is a community-based club with a mission to promote health and fitness, skill improvement, personal growth, and teamwork among its members. The club also aims to encourage individuals of all ages to disconnect from screens and embrace outdoor activities, particularly the sport of soccer.
The MPGFC committee, formed by the club's key founders, is dedicated to creating a strong foundation for success both on and off the field. The club has experienced steady growth since its inception, with members ranging from 14 to above 50 years old, including both boys and girls. The survival of MPGFC depends on the support of local businesses and paid-up members, and the club is proud to have secured sponsorships for the next three years.
In 2023, MPGFC is launching an inclusive football programme called Open Goals. This programme is designed for families with children who have additional needs, providing a safe and inclusive environment for 5 to 16-year-olds to learn soccer skills. The games will be held at Elara Oval in Marsden Park every Saturday morning, starting from April 1st. Registration for the Open Goals programme is limited to a maximum of 20 members to ensure proper management and individual attention.
MPGFC is fortunate to have state-of-the-art facilities, including male and female change rooms, toilets, a canteen area, a children's playground, basketball courts, and drinking fountains. The club boasts two full-sized soccer pitches and two mini roos soccer pitches for U5 to U7 players. U8 to U10 players will have a smaller sized pitch marked out on the main fields with smaller goals, while U11 and above will play on full-sized pitches with full-sized goals.
To support the development of its members, MPGFC has partnered with Kano, a professional coaching business dedicated to empowering grassroots football. Kano provides coaching sessions to all MPGFC members every second week, focusing on skill enhancement and player development for teams in the U6 to U12 age groups.
MPGFC encourages individuals who are interested in volunteering or becoming a sponsor to get in touch with the club. By joining MPGFC, individuals have the opportunity to be part of a modern club with modern ideas, committed to the well-being and growth of its members as a whole.
