Market Rasen Table Tennis Club is a small but thriving club located in Faldingworth Village Hall, Lincolnshire. With up to 4 table tennis tables and first-class equipment, the club provides excellent playing conditions for its members. The club welcomes players of all ages and boasts a diverse membership that includes individuals from all over Lincolnshire.
One of the main activities at the Market Rasen Table Tennis Club is social play on Friday evenings from 7. 15pm to 9. 15pm. Members gather regularly to enjoy friendly matches and socialise with fellow table tennis enthusiasts.
Additionally, the club participates in league play as part of the local Lincoln League, competing on Thursday evenings during the winter and spring months.
In order to nurture young talent, the club also offers training sessions for juniors, with qualified UKCC coaches in attendance. These sessions are arranged on an invite-only basis and aim to further develop the skills of promising young players. The club takes pride in nurturing its junior members, who often go on to represent their universities in later years.
The Market Rasen Table Tennis Club has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 2006. The club website provides detailed information on past achievements, including team accomplishments, county representations for juniors, and coaching initiatives. The club has also been successful in organising a full league programme, starting from October 2021 to the March 2022 season, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The club extends its gratitude to the Memorial Hall Committee, which has graciously provided the venue for over six years, ensuring that members have a dedicated space to play and train. Previously, the club operated from various locations, including the MR Cricket pavilion and the local De-Aston School.
The recent season has been particularly successful for the Market Rasen Table Tennis Club, with three teams competing in the Lincoln League. The first team, competing in Division 1, won the division for the first time, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork. The second team, also in Division 1, managed to maintain their position despite facing challenges. The third team, in Division 2, focuses primarily on junior players, who consistently move on to universities after their time with the club.
The ladies veterans team of the Market Rasen Table Tennis Club achieved national success in the 2021/22 season, finishing at the top of the premier division in Englands Vetts British League. The team consisted of Lesley Keast from Market Rasen, as well as guest members Rose Rainton from Sussex, Jane Vickers from Derbyshire, and Sarah Horsnell from Middx. These accomplished players, with high national rankings, contributed significantly to the team's success.
The club welcomes both experienced players and newcomers to join their social evenings and training sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity to receive coaching from qualified UKCC Level 2 coaches or simply have fun and play table tennis. The club emphasises inclusivity, and players of all ages are encouraged to participate. The cost of each session is 3.
