Lyme Regis Gig Club

Lyme Regis Gig Club, located on the stunning Jurassic Coast, is a sea rowing club that offers the thrilling sport of Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing to the local community. Founded in 2007, the club has steadily grown in both membership and success in competitions.

At Lyme Regis Gig Club, rowing enthusiasts have access to a fleet of impressive boats. The club boasts three beautiful wooden boats, Rebel, Black Ven, and Tempest, all expertly crafted by local boat builder Gail McGarva. Additionally, the club provides two GRP training boats named Daring and Prospero. In the works is the construction of a fourth wooden boat, set to be completed in the spring of 2024.

Young rowers between the ages of eight and twelve can also enjoy rowing in the wooden skiff Gale Force.

The club offers further amenities to its members, including SeaFit, a dry-land training facility equipped with ergo rowing machines and weights. This year-round training facility helps members enhance their fitness and rowing skills, ensuring they excel both on and off the water.

Lyme Regis Gig Club aims to promote the sport of Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing and inspire a sense of fitness and camaraderie within the community. They warmly welcome new members of all ages, encouraging them to embark on a journey of building new friendships, viewing Lyme Bay from a unique perspective, improving their fitness levels, and participating in organised racing regattas across Dorset, Devon, and Cornwall.
