Mariah here, the face behind the fun at Lyall Bay Surf Life Saving Club. Let's get straight to it!

Founded way back in 1910, Lyall Bay Surf Life Saving Club is New Zealand's first surf life-saving club to patrol. Right here in Wellington, the club's dedicated volunteers are out on Lyall Bay Beach every weekend from November to March, keeping everyone safe and sound.

If you’re keen on lifeguarding, Mariah wants to let you know the club is all set to train new lifeguards, giving you the vital skills to make a real difference on the beach. As a lifeguard, you’ll be a part of the club’s mission to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at the beach.

Got kids? The junior surf sports programme is perfect for kids from 6 months to 14 years. It's all about water safety and surf skills, with loads of fun thrown in. Young ones can build up their confidence in the water and pick up some lifelong skills.

For the more seasoned members, the senior surf sports programmes are top-notch. They offer surf lifeguards a chance to up their rescue game and stay fit with training in surf swimming, knee boarding, surf skis, iron man, surf boat rowing, and surf canoes.

As a volunteer charity, the club depends on support from the community to keep going strong. Donations are always appreciated and can be made through the club's website.
